Disgraced ex-South Carolina governor Mark Sanford has once again made it back onto the political scene after his 2009 scandal when it was discovered that he had misused state travel funds to conduct his ongoing affair with an Argentinean woman.  Sanford had been married to his (former) wife, Jenny Sanford, for 20 years and they had 4 sons together. As of Tuesday, he has won his bid for his old seat in Congress, defeating Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, sister of The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert.

How is it that someone who has done so much wrong has once again made it back into office? Why do we, as a society, continually forgive public figures who have cheated and lied to the public?

Former President Bill Clinton was ripped apart when it was discovered he had cheated and lied. But his wife stood by him and chose to forgive. Nowadays he is a prominent and loved figure in society.

Is it the media attention these stories receive? Are we so swayed by media that we can’t come up with our own judgments about what is morally right and wrong? Hypothetically speaking, whether you are a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Atheist etc., most of us consider cheating morally wrong and something that you absolutely should not do if you are in a committed relationship or marriage.

Or so we say to ourselves….

But we always manage to eventually forgive public figure cheaters because they are continuously rewarded with media coverage, book deals, and election winnings. As long as these things continue to happen, the 7th commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” will continue to lose ground. We, as a society, love public figures who cheat! We are obsessed with reading and watching about their morally wrong ways, because perhaps, it makes us feel better about our own flawed lives.

Now, Mark Sanford, who left his wife of 20 years and mother to his four sons, is back and stronger than ever. Not only does he have his old job back but he’s engaged to the Argentinean mistress he left his family for and we, as a society, have accepted him back with welcoming arms.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star slammed his ex-girlfriend Rita Ora on Twitter on Monday morning, accusing her of cheating on him with ‘nearly 20 dudes’ and also claims he got her pregnant.

Although he never mentions her name, Kardashian, 25, and Ora, 22, have been long linked together in the tabloids and only subtly came out with the relationship in October.

“She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together, I wonder how many she will sleep with now that we apart? (sic) But I mean 20?!!!” he tweeted on Monday.

“How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes all while in a relationship?!”

Those messages along with others regarding her supposed cheating ways have since been deleted along with every trace of Ora on his Twitter, including an image of the two cuddling with the caption, “Me and my baby.”

Ora did not respond to the former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant’s Twitter rage and continued to promote her music instead.

However, one short-lived tweet did emerge quickly after Kardashian’s Twitter rant.

“Rob’s d—k was wack, I had to go get it somewhere else,” Ora tweeted. This tweet infuriated Kardashian to which he responded, “So you let me get you pregnant and you let others hit it raw?”

This exchange has since been removed from Twitter.

Kardashian’s older sister Khloe Kardashian-Odoms also joined in warning her brother to “be nice kiddddd.”

In a tweet that was also deleted, Khloe advised her little brother, “Cheaters never prosper @RobKardashian ill be home today… Try and smile little brother.”

“It’s really sad- they really liked each other but with him living in LA and her over in London, it was becoming impossible to maintain a relationship. They’d only decided to go public with the romance a couple of months ago so as not to put any pressure on themselves but they’ve already split,” a source told The Sun, a UK tabloid.

Ora recently opened up to Glamour magazine that the relationship just wasn’t working out.

“I was like a ghost. I used to get so frustrated with myself and then wonder why I was angry, so I decided it was best to keep it friendly- especially at the moment when there’s so much going on,” she told the magazine.

“In 22 years there’s been nothing. I’ve had young fascinations but never love… I’m scared of letting my guard down.”

Ex-CIA Director David Patraeus was surprised when it was discovered that his biographer and secret girlfriend, Paula Broadwell, was suspected of sending anonymous, threatening emails to a friend of Patraeus’ that she viewed as a romantic rival.

Patraeus was told by FBI investigators that Broadwell sent harassing emails to Jill Kelley, a family friend of Patraeus, warning her to stay away from him. Kelley and Patraeus know each other from his time at Central Command in Tampa.

Patraeus stepped down abruptly as the nation’s head spy last Friday after acknowledging that he had been involved in an extramarital affair. He and his family are said to be devastated over the affair. His wife Holly “is not exactly pleased right now,” according to Steve Boylan, a friend and former Patraeus spokesman. Boylan spoke with Patraeus over the weekend.

The affair began about two months after Patraeus took over as director of the CIA in September 2011 and ended about four months ago, according to Boylan.

“He deeply regrets and knows how much pain this causes his family,” stated Boylan in an interview with Good Morning America.

Patraeus has been married to wife Holly for 38 years and have two adult children, including a son who led an infantry platoon in Afghanistan as an Army lieutenant.

Broadwell is a 40-year-old graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and an Army Reserve officer. She is married with two sons.

A spokeswoman for Kelley issued a statement on Sunday saying that Kelley and her family had been friends with the Patraeus family for over five years.

Broadwell traveled to Afghanistan in 2010 where Patraeus was serving as the top commander. Reportedly, Patraeus had granted her wide access as reported in her biography of him, All In: The Education of General David Patraeus. The two first met at Harvard University in 2006 where she was a graduate student.

Taylor Swift is accused of cheating on her current boyfriend Conor Kennedy with his cousin Patrick Schwarzenegger at a recent family event.

It’s not the first time Taylor’s been linked to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, the two were spotted enjoying some alone time during the Fourth of July earlier this year in Cape Cod.

The source claims the Kennedy family is pissed and revels,

“Taylor and Patrick weren’t kissing out in the open, but she wasn’t being as subtle as she thought she was. The previous day, she was all over Conor, so she hooked up with two cousins on consecutive nights!”

“Conor doesn’t know, but everyone else in the family does. They think she’s a hanger-on and find her obsession with the Kennedy cousins disconcerting. Taylor lost the respect of everyone in the family. They despise her and don’t want her anywhere near Conor or Patrick.”

For someone who’s made a very nice living off singing about her ex-boyfriend’s naughty ways, it sure seems horribly contradictory (and terrible for your public image)  to not only cheat on your boyfriend but to hook up with his cousin, the night after hooking up with your boyfriend!
